Here are my favorites from this past Sunday's XICW show. I was not feeling well so I am surprised that I was able to take as nice of pictures as I did. However, when you have poachers ya gotta step it up.

I've been wanting to write one of these posts for awhile and a recent influx of comments on my art improving lately just fueled the fire. I myself have seen a drastic difference in my work not only in technical aspects such as shooting and also in the creative aspect in editing. Recently, I had gone back through old wrestling photos I shot to find certain things and I was cringing at how bad they were compared to now. Yikes! Nobody likes to see that, especially a crazy perfectionist artist like myself. So let's begin... I still like this picture but it is so obvious that flash was used it annoys me and limits the amount of editing possibilities. There is also that obnoxious forhead shine that I can't stand. It is nice and crisp but it could be better. This photograph is soooo much better. It is not all flashed out and it provokes a lot more emotion. The rest of the ring and arena aren't distracting and the editing is way better as well. I'm so glad I got a faster lens and better at photoshop haha. I've also been pretty excited at my artistic side coming out more when shooting wrestling shows. I've been playing with focus more and doing more to make shots more interesting and not just like the rest of wrestling photos out there. Give them some of my artistic vibe to them. Here are a few examples... Nowwwwwwwwww let me enter my rant once again about photographers with no passion...please do NOT call yourself an artist if you simply take snapshots with no emotion, feeling, or passion. It is insulting to all of us who actually put ourselves into every work of art we make, especially when you charge a fortune to do it. There is so much of this in every art form and it is disgusting. You are a joke and you are NOT an artist. Rant over. Now let's switch over to some nature shots. A big difference in my nature photography is that I found my thing that makes my art unique to me. It takes a long time to find that but I have and I am very proud of it. I still like this photo don't get me wrong but it is kind of typical and flat. Nothing makes it pop or stand out in a crowd. I'd still like to be there right now though so that is good. Ahhhhhhh<3 This one makes my soul warm and pop out of me. It makes me so happy. It has so much feeling, mood and depth and it is also my soul in a photograph. I understand not everyone likes this kinda nature shot but it is what I create. It represents me way more than the previous picture. In summary, never stop working and trying to improve your work. It will always improve even when you don't notice it yourself. I just proved that with this post.
Until next time.... I don't know why I never got around to a Saturday Adventure post last weekend, nor an XICW post, and now I'm behind on a hair post. So we'll put them all in one. Last Saturday Mom and I went for a walk in the rain, we didn't care. I love the rain and I kept my camera inside of my hoodie so it was safe. It was so relaxing and reviving to feel the cool rain on me in the woods. The place we went to originally was INCREDIBLY lame so we decided to find another place to go. The second destination was much more satisfying<3 Essentially meaning it had lots of badass gorgeous trees and these young ladies :) Skip forward to Sunday which was XICW. I feel like I took some of the best wrestling pictures of my life that night. It was so cool to be so excited about these photographs. Here are a few of my favorites. I'm so stoked at how they turned out so well. I guess focusing and really getting in the zone makes a big difference haha.
Soooooooooooooo I decided it was time for a hair change! I left green to rest til another time and went to my favorite color and one of my favorite hair colors! I had to have two shades so light purple on bottom and deep purple on top. It has been a loooooongggggg week and I haven't had a chance to get out and take any pictures since Saturday. So, I decided to go through old memory cards and see if there was anything worth posting. I found my long lost WWE pictures from 2013 that I have been searching for. Helllllllooooooo :D What a find ;D I'll keep my fangirling to a minimum. Okay okay, getting a little carried away here....onto the next memory card. Aww look how cute, Mom and I on my graduation :) and me.......with LONG BLONDE hair...haha what a change Well that's a wrap on Flashback Friday....
Adios I was psyched as hell to do these pictures today and test out this new lens by shooting wrestling outside. I have always loved when shows are outside and wish there would be more. Nothing beats natural lighting and I surely wasn't let down. These are some of my favorite pictures I've ever taken of wrestling to date. Enjoy.
I finally got to break in my new lens at XICW this weekend :) I was kinda nervous just using it and no flash or anything else. I wouldn't let myself go back to that and I am
proud that I didn't. I am really happy with the results and can't wait until I figure it all out and use it up to it's full potential. These are the kind of pictures I wanted to produce that I was speaking of in my rant about boring wrestling pictures. I am excited to share them and hear feedback on them. Let me know what you think :) This weekend I shot Clash Wrestling's show Slamma Jamma. I wanted to break my rut of wrestling photos all looking similar so I attempted to shoot differently and definitely edit differently. I feel like most wrestling pictures (and all sports for that matter) tend to get pretty boring to look at because most photographers don't add a creative flare to them. That may just be my opinion but I definitely didn't want to fall into that category of photographers. So here is my attempt to break out of my rut of same old same old photography. This is only just the beginning of me trying to reinvent myself in wrestling photography. Stay tuned to see what I may come up with next.
Until then...... |
